About Jack Werth

Pastor Jack Werth (1953–2023) gave his life to one work: opening the Scriptures, verse by verse, to the people he loved.

Jack Arthur Werth was born June 7, 1953, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He sensed God’s call to preach at the age of twelve — a calling he never set down. He graduated as valedictorian of Arlington Baptist College in 1975, the same year he married his wife, Rayna, and together they gave themselves to the ministry of the Word.

In 1984 he became pastor of Liberty Baptist Church Reformed, where he would shepherd the same congregation for nearly four decades — until his death on September 15, 2023. Sunday after Sunday he preached expository sermons, working through whole books of the Bible in order: unhurried, careful, and faithful to the text.

This library preserves that life’s work — more than six hundred of his sermons, recorded and archived so the teaching can keep serving pastors preparing to preach and every believer longing to know God’s Word more deeply.

“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season.” — 2 Timothy 4:2

He is remembered with love by his wife, Rayna; his children, Rebecca, Sarah, Jared, and Matthew; his grandchildren; and a church family shaped by his faithful ministry. Soli Deo Gloria.
